Vishwanath And Sons is a light-hearted family drama that rides on Suriya’s charm and Mamitha Baiju’s energetic performance, with a highly entertaining first half and a slightly weaker second half.

Storyline

Sanjay Vishwanath, played by Suriya, is a successful industrialist and professional pistol shooter who has little interest in marriage. His mother, however, wants him to settle down. Things take an interesting turn when Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju, enters his life and gradually develops a close bond with him.

The film revolves around their relationship, family dynamics, and the emotional conflicts that arise along the way.

Positives

The first half is the film’s biggest strength, with plenty of lively moments, comedy, and engaging family scenes. The bond between Suriya and Radhika Sarathkumar is established effectively, while Mamitha Baiju’s entry adds fresh energy to the narrative.

Suriya is charming throughout and fits the role perfectly. His effortless screen presence works especially well in the lighter portions, while his emotional performance in key scenes showcases his acting ability.

Mamitha Baiju is the standout performer. Her cheerful and energetic portrayal keeps the proceedings lively, and she particularly excels in the comedy portions. Radhika Sarathkumar and Sunil Reddy also contribute strongly to the fun.

Negatives

The film loses some momentum in the second half as the writing becomes more formulaic. Several conflicts feel artificial and are resolved too quickly without enough emotional depth.

The shift to Ooty also reduces the focus on the lead pair. The relationship between Suriya and Mamitha could have been explored in greater detail. While the climax is neat, the build-up to it could have been more impactful.

Some of Raveena Tandon’s dialogue about relationships feels questionable. The Telugu lyrics are decent but could have been stronger.

Technicalities

GV Prakash Kumar’s music suits the film’s light-hearted tone, while Nimish Ravi’s cinematography gives the movie an elegant visual appeal. The house portions are particularly well shot. Production values are solid.

Director Venky Atluri handles the first half effectively, balancing comedy, family emotions, and romance. However, the second half lacks the same impact due to formulaic writing and a few slow-paced portions. A tighter edit could have improved the overall experience.
