Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari Creates History With India’s First 3D 8K Re-Release

Vyjayanthi Movies has created a new cinematic milestone by spending a massive Rs 8 crore to convert the 1990 classic Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (JVAS) into 3D 8K format. This path-breaking upgrade makes JVAS the first-ever 3D 8K re-release in Indian cinema. Director Nag Ashwin personally led the entire process, ensuring the transformation stayed true to the original while achieving cutting-edge visual excellence.

Ashwin, known for his creative vision, approached the task with precision and passion. He worked closely with the restoration team to preserve the film’s heart and soul while making it visually stunning for modern audiences. JVAS Returns in 3D Glory on May 9

To celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary, Vyjayanthi Movies will bring JVAS back to theatres on May 9 in both 2D and 3D versions. Fans across generations eagerly await this nostalgic yet upgraded experience. Featuring the iconic pairing of Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, the film remains one of Telugu cinema’s most beloved fantasy dramas.

The story follows a kind-hearted tourist guide who finds a magical ring. This ring brings a celestial goddess to Earth, setting off a heartwarming and adventurous tale filled with magic, emotion, and entertainment.

Director K. Raghavendra Rao originally made the film on a modest Rs 2 crore budget. It then went on to earn nearly Rs 15 crore at the box office and became Telugu cinema’s highest-grossing film at the time. The film also bagged five Nandi Awards, showcasing its critical and commercial success.

Legendary Cast and Timeless Music

The film featured a strong supporting cast including Amrish Puri, Kannada Prabhakar, Allu Ramalingaiah, and Rami ReddyMusic maestro Ilaiyaraaja composed the film’s soundtrack, which still holds a timeless charm.

Chiranjeevi recently revealed an exciting detail about the hit song “Abbanee Tiyyani Debba.” He shared how Ilaiyaraaja composed the tune during a quick studio visit, and lyricist Veturi wrote the lyrics during lunch. Singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam then recorded the vocals, wrapping up the song’s production within a single day. Chiranjeevi, K. Raghavendra Rao, and producer C. Ashwini Dutt instantly recognized its magic.

A Rare Gem From Chiranjeevi and Sridevi

Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari also stands out as the second-last film featuring the Chiranjeevi-Sridevi duo, making this return even more special. The film’s Hindi version, Aadmi Aur Apsara, also captivated North Indian audiences due to the stars’ pan-India appeal.
