Irumudi Review: A Powerful Father-Daughter Story With A Strong Social Message

By TeluguFunda / August 21, 2026

Punchline

Ravi Teja shines in a socially relevant family drama that combines emotion, suspense and hard-hitting messaging.

Storyline

Trinath Rama Kasu, played by Ravi Teja, is a farmer, a devoted Ayyappa Swamy follower, a loving husband and a caring father. He shares a strong bond with his daughter Manemma, whom he encourages to be fearless and open about everything happening in her life.

Trinath also considers every girl in his village as his own daughter and stands up for them whenever they face trouble. However, the girls in the village begin facing serious threats, raising questions about who is behind the incidents and how Trinath will protect them.

At its core, Irumudi revolves around two contrasting approaches to raising a girl child one shaped by fear and social conditioning, and the other built around confidence, empowerment and self-reliance. Shiva Nirvana uses this central idea to deliver an emotional and thought-provoking story without becoming overly preachy.

Positives

Ravi Teja’s performance is the biggest strength of the film. He delivers a subtle, intense and mature act without relying on his usual mass image.
Baby Nakshathra is the heart of the film and delivers an impressive, confident performance.
Priya Bhavani Shankar is excellent as Kaveri, particularly in a crucial second-half sequence.
Sai Kumar makes an impact in a role with multiple shades.
Swasika is effective and menacing in a surprising role.
The socially relevant core plot gives the film emotional weight.
The father-daughter relationship is beautifully handled.
Shiva Nirvana’s dialogue writing is one of the major highlights.
The Ayyappa Swamy songs are well integrated into the narrative and create a strong theatrical impact.
GV Prakash Kumar’s background score elevates both the suspenseful and emotional sequences.
Vishnu Sarma’s cinematography gives the rural setting a beautiful, aesthetic look.
The first half maintains a strong sense of tension and curiosity.

Negatives

The proceedings after the major twist become predictable.
The twist is interesting on paper, but its execution could have been more impactful.
The stretch between the twist and the emotional climax feels slightly stretched.
A few disturbing sequences are emotionally unsettling and may be difficult for some viewers to watch.
Editing could have been tighter during parts of the second half.

Technicalities

Shiva Nirvana handles Story, Screenplay, Dialogues and Direction, and for the most part, he succeeds in keeping the narrative focused on its core theme. The first half is particularly effective, as the director gradually builds tension while establishing the emotional relationships between the characters.

GV Prakash Kumar’s background score is a major asset, especially during the suspense and emotional sequences. Both Ayyappa Swamy songs are visually effective, with Mallepoola Pallaki receiving a particularly strong theatrical response.

Vishnu Sarma’s cinematography deserves special mention for its pleasant visuals and picturesque rural frames. Prawin Pudi’s editing works well in the first half, though the second half could have benefited from tighter cuts.

Mythri Movie Makers have maintained good production standards throughout.

Final Verdict

Irumudi is an empowering and engaging family action drama that stands out for its socially relevant subject, strong performances and emotional core. Ravi Teja delivers one of his most restrained and impressive performances in recent times, while Baby Nakshathra and Priya Bhavani Shankar provide strong support.

The film loses some momentum after the major twist due to predictable proceedings and a slightly stretched second half. However, the strong first half, hard-hitting dialogues, effective background score and emotionally powerful climax make up for most of its shortcomings.

Irumudi is not just about action or family emotions it raises important questions about how society treats girls and how parents can empower them to face the world with confidence.
