Jubilee Hills Set for Crucial By-Election Tomorrow; Hyderabad on High Alert

Hyderabad is on edge as the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency readies for its much-anticipated by-election tomorrow. The city is buzzing with political energy, and officials have assured that all arrangements are firmly in place for a smooth, secure, and transparent polling process.

District Election Officer R.V. Karnan confirmed that polling teams, equipment, and security personnel have been fully deployed. “Every precaution has been taken to ensure peaceful voting. We urge citizens to participate responsibly,” he said.

More than four lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes, deciding the fate of 58 candidates, including representatives from all three major political parties. Authorities are aiming to surpass the 50% turnout recorded in the previous election. To encourage greater participation, polling hours have been extended until 6 p.m.

Groundwork Complete, Voters Encouraged to Step Out

Voting will take place across 407 polling booths set up at 139 locations within the constituency. Karnan emphasized the importance of carrying valid identification, noting that voter slips alone will not be accepted.

Election officials have undergone extensive training to ensure the process runs seamlessly. A total of 826 control units, 1,494 ballot units, and 837 VVPAT machines have been tested and are ready for use. Special arrangements have already enabled 103 senior citizens to cast their votes in advance.

For the first time in the constituency, drone surveillance will be deployed to monitor polling stations in real time. “This will enhance transparency and help maintain law and order,” Karnan explained. He also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to influence voters or disrupt polling.

Massive Security Cover in Place

Hyderabad Police have ramped up security across Jubilee Hills to ensure peaceful polling. Additional Commissioner of Police Iqbal announced that paramilitary forces will be stationed at all sensitive polling booths. “We’ve already bound over 230 known troublemakers to prevent any disturbance. Around 1,761 police personnel will be on election duty,” he said.

Security checks have been intensified across the constituency, leading to the seizure of ₹3.6 crore in unaccounted cash. So far, 27 cases have been registered for violating election codes and guidelines.

Tech Teams to Curb Misinformation

With social media influencing public perception like never before, authorities have set up dedicated monitoring teams to tackle fake news, misleading posts, and viral misinformation related to polling. Any false or provocative content will be swiftly removed to maintain public confidence.

Karnan reassured voters that everyone arriving at polling centres before 6 p.m. will be allowed to cast their vote, even if queues persist. The Election Office will release official turnout updates every two hours throughout the day.

As Hyderabad braces for this high-stakes electoral showdown, Jubilee Hills finds itself in the political spotlight. With drone surveillance, strengthened policing, and extended voting hours, officials are determined to ensure that the by-election is fair, transparent, and completely incident-free.
