Acclaimed Telugu filmmaker Deva Katta revealed that Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans was never meant to be a web series. He originally planned it as a feature film. But when the pandemic struck, he rewrote the project as a multi-season web series. This powerful political drama, full of emotional intensity and gripping twists, will stream on Sony LIV from August 7.
Friendship Turns into Political War
Mayasabha tells the story of two close friends, Krishna Kanth Naidu (Aadi Pinishetty) and MS Rami Reddy (Chaitanya Rao Madadi). Their strong friendship slowly turns into bitter political rivalry. Both step into politics with good intentions, but their different ideologies and outside forces split them apart. The series draws inspiration from real political events in united Andhra Pradesh between 1974 and 1983. The characters loosely reflect the political journeys of YS Rajasekhar Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu.
A Dream Deva Katta Carried for Years
At the trailer launch in Hyderabad, Deva Katta shared how this story stayed with him since childhood. In 2016, writer Sree Harsha approached him with a similar idea about two friends in politics. Deva Katta immediately connected with it. He wanted to make a film, but later chose the web format to explore the story in greater detail. He rewrote the script during the pandemic. He called Mayasabha a “dream” and a “treasure” for the audience, not just another web series.
Grand Trailer Launch with Emotional Moments
The trailer launch saw the presence of the full team, with actor Sai Durgha Tej as chief guest. Sai Tej recalled his strong connection with Deva Katta and praised him for working on Mayasabha for over a decade. He wished the entire team massive success.
Aadi Pinishetty said he always wanted to be part of a political drama. He instantly agreed after hearing the story and praised the deep research behind it. Chaitanya Rao called the project a breakthrough in his career and felt honored to work with senior actors like Divya Dutta, Nassar, and Sai Kumar.
Fast-Paced Shoot with a Stellar Team
Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar co-directed the series. The team completed the shoot in just 90 days, equivalent to filming three full movies. The cast includes Tanya Ravichandran, Srikanth Iyengar, Ravindra Vijay, and Charitha Varma. Shaktikanth Karthik composed the music, while Suresh Ragutu handled the cinematography to match the series’ powerful tone.
With a mix of brotherhood, betrayal, and high-stakes politics, Mayasabha promises a cinematic experience in a web format. The strong storytelling and political depth will likely leave a lasting impact on viewers when it drops on August 7.
