More Screen Time for Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD Sequel
Ashwin addressed the criticism regarding Prabhas’ limited screen time in the first part. He explained that Kalki 1 was meant to establish the dystopian world and explore the backstories of Sumati (Deepika Padukone) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan). However, he assured that the sequel will heavily focus on Prabhas’ dual roles – Bhairava, a futuristic bounty hunter, and Karna, the ancient warrior from the Mahabharata. The director confirmed that Part 2 will center around the Bhairava-Karna narrative, giving Prabhas significantly more screen presence.
Expanding the Kalki Universe with Stunning VFX
The first installment introduced several powerful characters, including Kamal Haasan, who played a villainous role. With its cutting-edge VFX by DNEG and The Embassy Visual Effects, the film brought to life visually stunning worlds like Kasi, Shambhala, and the Complex. These realms will be further explored in the sequel, promising even more breathtaking visuals.
Production Timeline: Kalki 2 Filming to Start by December 2025
While promoting the re-release of his debut film, Yevade Subramanyam, Ashwin expressed excitement about returning to the Kalki universe. He hinted that filming might begin by December 2025, but the release date could vary based on production timelines.
