Badminton star PV Sindhu’s wedding to Venkat Datta has captured the hearts of fans across India. The grand ceremony took place at the luxurious Raffles Resort in Udaipur on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in Sindhu’s life. The star-studded event was attended by family, friends, and famous personalities from both sports and entertainment.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was among the attendees and shared the first wedding photo of the couple on X (formerly Twitter). He expressed his joy at being part of the celebration, writing: “Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead.”
Wedding Celebrations Kick Off with Sangeet Ceremony
The wedding celebrations started earlier in the week with a colorful Sangeet ceremony on December 20. This lively event was filled with music, dance, and joyful moments, as Sindhu and Venkat joined their families for a fun-filled evening. The couple’s chemistry and their families’ enthusiastic participation made it a memorable night for everyone involved.
On December 21, the festivities continued with traditional rituals like Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi. These ceremonies were soaked in love, laughter, and vibrant colors, reflecting the timeless customs of an Indian wedding. Sindhu, known for her elegance on the badminton court, embraced these cultural traditions with grace, making the weekend even more special.
PV Sindhu’s Remarkable Badminton Achievement Before Her Wedding
Before her wedding, PV Sindhu had an impressive win at the Syed Modi India International badminton tournament. She defeated China’s Wu Luo Yu in straight games, 21-14 and 21-16, ending a two-year title drought on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour. This victory marked her first BWF World Tour title since the Singapore Open in 2022.
Despite reaching the finals in other tournaments, such as the Spain Masters and Malaysia Masters, Sindhu had not won a title since 2022. Her recent success has reasserted her position as one of the top badminton players in the world.
A Stellar Career of PV Sindhu
Sindhu’s success on the court is nothing short of legendary. She has earned five medals at the BWF World Championships, equaling China’s Zhang Ning’s record. Her remarkable journey includes a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making her the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals in badminton.
