Rumors claiming that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) blocked the Aadhaar card of popular TV anchor Shivajyothi are completely false. Some social media posts suggested that she would no longer be allowed darshan of Lord Venkateswara, but TTD officials have clearly stated that no such decision was ever made. A few people online even supported the fake claim, but TTD reiterated that it has no policy of blocking anyone from darshan. “Only God has the authority to deny darshan,” officials clarified.
The controversy started after an old video of Shivajyothi resurfaced and went viral over the last few days. In the clip, recorded in the Annaprasadam queue, she jokingly said, “Costly beggars,” which hurt the sentiments of many devotees. Taking advantage of the situation, some users circulated edited screenshots and fake notices claiming TTD had blacklisted her Aadhaar card. However, TTD confirmed that it never released any such notification. The institution uses Aadhaar only to strengthen identity verification and prevent broker-related scams not to impose personal bans on devotees.
Currently seven months pregnant, Shivajyothi responded saying the video is old, not recent, and offered an apology if her words hurt anyone’s feelings.
This incident once again highlights how quickly misinformation spreads on social media. TTD urged devotees to rely only on official sources for accurate information.
