The Eye Trailer, Shruti Haasan Latest Movie, directed by Daphne Schmon

Shruti Haasan is making her English film debut with The Eye, a psychological thriller directed by Daphne Schmon. The film, co-starring Mark Rowley, will have its India premiere at the Wench Film Festival in Mumbai, running from February 27 to March 2. This marks the first time Indian audiences will get to experience the gripping story on the big screen.

The trailer for The Eye was released recently, offering a glimpse into a story filled with grief, mystery, and supernatural elements. The film follows Diana (Shruti Haasan), a woman struggling with the death of her partner, Felix (Mark Rowley). She returns to the island where he passed away, hoping to find closure by scattering his ashes. However, her sorrow turns into intrigue when she learns about an ancient ritual known as the “Evil Eye,” which might bring Felix back, but at a horrifying cost.

What the Trailer Reveals

The trailer opens with Diana and Felix sharing tender moments on the beach, but quickly shifts to a darker tone as Diana faces deep emotional turmoil. She experiences visions and is haunted by memories, leading her to question what really happened to Felix. Mysterious locals warn her about returning to the island, and eerie visuals hint at a supernatural presence. The tagline, “What if death was not the end?”, suggests a sinister plot involving resurrection.

The film captures the haunting beauty of Greece, with key scenes shot in Athens and Corfu. The stunning yet eerie landscapes add to the suspenseful atmosphere, making the mystery even more intense.

All-Women Production and Sustainable Filmmaking

Directed by Daphne Schmon and written by Emily Carlton, The Eye stands out for being led by a female-driven creative and production team. The project was produced by Fingerprint Content in association with Media Finance Capital and Argonauts Productions. Notably, it is the first sustainably produced film in Greece, made with eco-friendly practices in collaboration with Greenshoot.

Shruti Haasan’s Excitement for the Film

Speaking about her role, Shruti Haasan shared her enthusiasm for psychological thrillers. She described the film as a deep dive into grief, human emotions, and the supernatural. She also expressed her pride in being part of a project led by women and one that promotes sustainability in filmmaking.

When Will The Eye Release?

After premiering at festivals like the London Independent Film Festival and the Greek International Film Festival, The Eye continues to build anticipation. While a global theatrical release date is yet to be announced, the film is expected to hit theaters later this year.

Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan is also working on Coolie, a Tamil film starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
