Ilaiyaraaja sends legal notice to makers of blockbuster movie

‘Manjummel Boys’ is one of the biggest hits in the history of southern Indian cinema. The Malayalam movie has been highly rewarded by the audience, both in theatres and on OTT.

The Tamil song ‘Kanmani Anbodu Kaadhalan’ (‘Kammani Ee Premalekha’ in Telugu) from ‘Gunaa’ has been used in the film creatively. The track is one of the greatest classics composed by music director Ilaiyaraaja. The legendary composer has now issued a notice to the producers of the Malayalam movie, stating that the song was used in their film without his prior authorization. “Our client reserves the right to initiate appropriate legal actions for such improper and unauthorized usage of the song in the said cinematographic film, which is his original musical work,” the legal notice reads.

Reports say that the makers of ‘Manjummel Boys’ had completed all legal formalities before using the song.
