HIT 3 Censored Despite ‘A’ Certificate, Nani’s Upcoming Movie HIT 3

Nani’s action-packed thriller HIT: The Third Case will hit theaters on May 1, 2025, but the film’s journey to release hasn’t been smooth. Even though the CBFC granted it an ‘A’ certificate, the board still enforced strict edits across several scenes.

HIT 3 Censor Report: Major Changes Before Release

During a special censor screening at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad, officials demanded seven significant changes, with Nani himself reportedly attending the session. The CBFC targeted everything from profanity to visual violence.

The board muted strong language such as “fck,” “dnai,” and “chtiya” in both dialogues and subtitles. It completely removed the word “ch*tiya” by muting it throughout the film.

To reduce visual impact, the team trimmed violent scenes like neck slitting, limb cutting, and torture to short flashes. They also reduced blood effects by 50% and darkened the blood color to lessen the intensity.

How HIT 3 Handled Sensitive Scenes

The filmmakers modified scenes involving children with extra caution. In a sequence that features a child inside a crate, they inserted a disclaimer clarifying the use of CGI and cut down the shots. The team also submitted the NOCs for all child actors to meet legal standards.

To avoid controversy, they digitally masked the IPS nameplate in a uniform-burning scene, considering its political sensitivity.

Scenes showing a girl being tortured also underwent changes. Editors used CGI overlays to cover blood pools and reduced the duration to just brief glimpses.

Plot, Cast, and Crew Details

The final cut of HIT 3 runs for 157 minutes (2 hours 37 minutes). Director Sailesh Kolanu shifts the focus from “who did it” to “how it was done,” promising a deeper dive into forensic investigation.

Nani plays Arjun Sarkaar, a HIT officer chasing a serial killer in Jammu and Kashmir. The film features Srinidhi Shetty, Adil Pala, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, and Maganti Srinath in key roles.

Wall Poster Cinema and Unanimous Productions produced the film, while Mickey J. Meyer composed the music. Sanu John Varghese handled cinematography and Karthika Srinivas managed the editing.

Censorship vs. Creative Freedom

Despite receiving an adult rating, HIT 3 faced heavy censorship, reigniting the debate on artistic freedom in Indian cinema. The film now stands among other ‘A’-rated titles that still had to follow CBFC restrictions.

As its release nears, fans expect HIT 3 to deliver a gripping crime thriller—even if slightly toned down for the censors.
