Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced substantial donations to support relief efforts in the wake of recent floods. In addition to his personal contribution of Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister Relief Fund, the Jana Sena Party chief has pledged to provide Rs 1 lakh each to 400 panchayats, totaling Rs 4 crore in donations to local communities.
Furthermore, employees working under his Panchayati Raj ministry have decided to donate their one-day salary to the CM Relief Fund. This collective effort is expected to contribute approximately Rs 14 crore to the cause of relief measures.
In a press meet on Wednesday, Pawan Kalyan said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu leading flood relief measures from the front are praise-worthy. “At this age, he is climbing proclainers, bulldozers, etc., to oversee the measures,” Kalyan added.
Regarding Vijayawada being flood-ravaged, he said that encorachments have been happening for decades. “It is easy to blame the government of the day. However, the truth of the matter is that, incrementally, encoachments have been happening for decades,” Kalyan said.
