The Joint Meeting of Producers, Distributors, and Exhibitors at the Film Chamber turned into a high-voltage drama filled with heated arguments, chaos, and near physical confrontations before finally ending on a peaceful note.
Despite the tension, the meeting ultimately cleared the path for Peddi, with all three sectors agreeing to form a special committee to resolve the long-running Percentage System issue.
Committee Formed, Peddi Gets Relief
A committee consisting of representatives from Producers, Distributors, and Exhibitors six members from each side has been formed to discuss the Percentage System and finalize the terms and conditions.
However, the new system will only come into effect after the release of Peddi. Until then, the film will reportedly remain exempt from the new rules.
Chamber Witnesses Complete Chaos
Before reaching an agreement, the Chamber reportedly witnessed ugly scenes with multiple members shouting, arguing, and aggressively confronting one another.
Exhibitor Asian Suniel reportedly lost his temper during the discussions and allegedly warned others saying, “Khatam Kartha Thum.”
The situation became even more intense when Suniel’s close aide, exhibitor Sridhar, and producer Naga Vamsi nearly charged at each other during the heated exchange.
Suresh Babu Loses Cool
Chamber President D. Suresh Babu was said to be extremely upset with the behavior inside the meeting hall. At one stage, many felt he might walk out entirely due to the escalating tensions.
Sources say the meeting only returned to order after Allu Aravind stepped in and appealed to both sides to calm down.
Allu Aravind’s Crucial Intervention
Allu Aravind reportedly reminded exhibitors that producers had already agreed in principle to the Percentage System and asked them not to insist on immediate implementation.
He emphasized that Peddi is an important film for the industry and requested exhibitors to cooperate and allow time for the committee to work on a proper solution.
His intervention reportedly helped cool tempers inside the Chamber.
Dil Raju Also Plays Key Role
FDC Chairman Dil Raju also played a major role in convincing exhibitors to accept the committee proposal instead of demanding immediate implementation.
His mediation reportedly helped both sides move toward a temporary compromise.
Disagreements Over Committee Members
Another major argument broke out regarding who should be included in the committee.
Active producers insisted that only currently running producers should be part of the panel. This was strongly opposed by senior producers C Kalyan, Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao, and Prasanna Kumar.
Finally, Supriya, Bapineedu, Mythri Ravi, Cherukuri Sudhakar, SKN, and Prasanna were nominated from the producers’ side.
Interestingly, both Naga Vamsi and Suniel Narang were reportedly kept out of the committee to avoid further conflicts.
Confusion Over Timeline
After the meeting, producers told the media that the committee would take around one to two months to resolve the issue.
However, exhibitors reportedly claimed they were privately assured that a plan would be finalized within one to two weeks. According to insiders, the longer timeline was communicated publicly to avoid affecting the business prospects of Peddi.
For now, one thing is clear Peddi has escaped the immediate impact of the Percentage System debate.
