T20 World Cup: India, Pakistan, England Survive Nerve-Wracking Encounters

By TeluguFunda / February 9, 2026

The ongoing T20 World Cup has kicked off on an entertaining and competitive note, with associate and emerging teams pushing the traditional powerhouses to the brink. Several early matches have made it clear that there are no easy games in this tournament.

India, Pakistan, and England all began their campaigns with shaky performances, narrowly escaping what could have been major upsets. These close contests have underlined the growing strength and confidence of smaller nations in the shortest format of the game.

India found themselves in serious trouble against the United States, struggling at 77 for 6 at one stage. Just when the game seemed to be slipping away, Suryakumar Yadav played a sensational rescue act, guiding India to a competitive total of 161. The bowlers then stepped up to secure a hard-fought victory.

Pakistan too endured an anxious chase against the Netherlands. While pursuing a modest target of 147, they were left needing 29 runs from the final two overs. Despite the pressure, Pakistan managed to scrape through, avoiding a potentially embarrassing defeat.

England had their own scare against Nepal in what was the latter’s first-ever encounter against the former world champions. After England posted 182, Nepal mounted a stunning chase and came agonizingly close, eventually falling short by just four runs in a thrilling finish.

These matches have clearly shown that the gap between the top teams and the underdogs is rapidly narrowing. Smaller teams are no longer content with just competing they are challenging, unsettling, and nearly toppling the giants. This heightened level of competition is exactly what the World Cup promises, and it has made this edition all the more exciting to watch.
