Following the massive glimpse launch held late last year, the Varanasi team maintained complete silence, focusing entirely on production. However, in a surprising turn of events, an impromptu promotional move has suddenly set social media abuzz and true to the film’s theme, it happened right in the holy city of Varanasi.

A hoarding reading “In Theatres April 7, 2027” was spotted in Varanasi, and images of it have since gone viral online. Although there is no official announcement from the makers yet, this subtle yet impactful promotion is being hailed as another marketing masterstroke by Rajamouli, cleverly hinting at the film’s release date without making a formal declaration.

Earlier, industry buzz suggested that Varanasi would hit theatres in the fourth week of March. However, uncertainty crept in after Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced March 5 as the release date for his Prabhas-starrer Spirit. A potential box-office clash between two highly anticipated films raised concerns among trade circles.

Now, with the latest promotional hint pointing towards an April 7, 2027 release, the confusion appears to be cleared. If this date is confirmed, Spirit and Varanasi will enjoy a comfortable gap of nearly a month, allowing both films ample breathing space at the box office a win-win situation for all involved.
