Dhanush has always loved cooking, and his latest film Idli Kadai proves how deeply this passion shapes his work. At the film’s trailer launch in Coimbatore, the actor-director revealed that he once dreamed of becoming a chef. He believes his strong desire to cook directly influences the roles he plays and the films he chooses to make.
Dhanush on Manifestation and Dream Roles
Speaking at the event, Dhanush said, “I wanted to cook. I wanted to become a chef. Maybe because I had that desire, I keep getting roles around food.” He pointed out that in Jagame Thandiram he made parottas, in Thiruchitrambalam he played a food delivery boy, and in Raayan he ran a fast-food shop. In Idli Kadai, he owns an idli shop. Dhanush credits this pattern to manifestation, saying that what you think becomes your reality. He urged youngsters to visualize their goals, work hard, and stay consistent until they achieve them.
Idli Kadai’s Emotional Story
Idli Kadai follows Murugan (played by Dhanush), who quits his job at a Michelin-star restaurant to save his father’s small idli shop. The film shows Murugan’s emotional connection with his family and his struggles to protect their legacy. The trailer highlights a clash between Murugan and a wealthy rival, played by Arun Vijay, which adds intense drama to the story.
Dhanush calls the movie “a simple, humble film you can watch with your whole family.” The story celebrates love, relationships, and the power of food to bring people together.
Star Cast and Technical Crew
The film features a strong ensemble cast that includes Nithya Menon, Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey, Geetha Kailasam, Brigida Saga, Samuthirakani, Parthiban, and Ilavarasu. G. V. Prakash composed the music, Kiran Koushik handled cinematography, GK Prasanna edited the film, and Jackson designed the sets.
Release and Audience Expectations
The makers postponed the release from April 10 to October 1, which further increased fan excitement. Dhanush marks Idli Kadai as his fourth directorial venture after Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam.
With its nostalgic tone, stellar cast, and inspiring message about following dreams, Idli Kadai promises to be one of Dhanush’s most heartfelt projects yet. Fans now look forward to watching his face-off with Arun Vijay on the big screen this October.
