Prabhas Faces Biggest Setback After Tollywood Strike – Release Plans in Trouble

By TeluguFunda / August 28, 2025

The Tollywood strike that lasted 18 days shook the entire Telugu film industry. But among all actors, Prabhas suffered the most. The superstar lined up multiple big-budget projects, and the strike threw his tight schedule off track. Producers now rush to secure his dates, while Prabhas balances delayed shoots, new commitments, and mounting release pressure.

Raja Saab Delayed – New Release Date Confirmed

Prabhas’s much-awaited horror-comedy The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, faced the worst impact. The team still needs around 20 days of shooting, which includes important talkie portions and two major songs. The strike stopped everything midway and pushed the film off its planned December 2025 release.

The makers have now confirmed January 9, 2026 as the new release date. They plan to finish shooting by October so that VFX and post-production can progress on time. In this film, Prabhas plays a dual role, a grandson and a grandfather, which demands more precision in filming. During the strike, critics accused the producers of not paying wages, but the team clarified that they cleared most payments and only Rs 1 crore from the July schedule remained pending.

Other Projects in Trouble – Fauzi, Spirit, and Kalki 2

While The Raja Saab heads for its new date, Prabhas’s other films also face trouble. His war drama Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, stands half complete and requires uninterrupted shooting. Sandeep Reddy Vanga planned to start Spirit in September, but Prabhas’s crowded schedule may delay it. Meanwhile, Nag Ashwin waits to begin Kalki 2, another massive project. Each delay creates a domino effect and makes managing his lineup tougher.

Prabhas’s Efforts to Catch Up

Prabhas works closely with his producers to save time. He has agreed to put in long hours without breaks so that the teams can recover lost schedules. Still, pending VFX work, multiple song shoots, and three big projects stretch his commitments to the limit. Compressing everything will test his stamina and planning.

Industry Losses After Strike

24 unions launched the strike to demand wage hikes and forced Tollywood to lose nearly Rs 100 crore. Big films like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and The Raja Saab shut down production, which disturbed the release calendar. The Telangana government stepped in, held talks, and approved higher wages to end the dispute.

The strike ended, but the after-effects still weigh heavily on the industry. For a star like Prabhas, who leads massive pan-India projects, the disruption created a serious backlog. The coming months will show whether he can balance every commitment without inviting fresh delays.
