Manchu Vs Single War: Sree Vishnu Apologizes, Controversial Dialogue Removed After Crucial Talks

By TeluguFunda / May 1, 2025

A fresh controversy has shaken Tollywood just days before the release of the romantic comedy Single. The film’s trailer sparked a strong reaction from Manchu Vishnu, who objected to the usage of the word “Manchu” in one of the dialogues. The issue escalated quickly, leading to urgent meetings, industry pressure, and a series of damage-control steps.

Why Did the Manchu Vs Single Controversy Begin?

The controversy started when the makers released the trailer of Single earlier this week. In one scene, Sree Vishnu says, “Batuku Manchu Kurisipoyindi,” which roughly means “Life is totally messed up.” The makers used the word Manchu as a substitute for a local expletive to avoid censorship. However, actor and MAA President Manchu Vishnu took offense to this usage, as it resembled his surname—respected across the Telugu film industry.

The trailer also showed Sree Vishnu shouting “Sivayya!” and included subtle digs at other film personalities like Balakrishna and references to Kannappa. But the usage of Manchu turned into the biggest flashpoint.

Manchu Vishnu Responds Strongly and Rallies Industry Support

Manchu Vishnu wasted no time in reacting. He directly contacted Allu Aravind, the veteran producer behind GA2 Pictures, and demanded the immediate removal of the controversial word from both the trailer and the film. He also reached out to influential industry figures and called for a crucial meeting with the Producer’s Council to escalate the matter officially.

During the meeting, Vishnu firmly stated, “We’re actively fighting against online trolling—how can we allow mockery within our own industry?” His strong stand forced the makers of Single to act quickly.

Sree Vishnu Apologizes as Allu Aravind Takes Charge

Sree Vishnu soon released a video in which he apologized to Manchu Vishnu and assured everyone that the team would replace the dialogue. Although the team didn’t officially publish the video, it quickly went viral across social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Bunny Vas, one of the key producers, posted a cryptic message on X.com, expressing his frustration over the backlash. He hinted that he restrained himself from lashing out. Despite his initial reluctance, Allu Aravind stepped in and issued clear instructions to the team to remove all controversial words from the final cut. The team complied, following Aravind’s directive.

Team Resolves Conflict Before Release

All parties have now settled the dispute. The team has removed the controversial dialogue from the film. Single, starring Sree Vishnu, Ketika Sharma, and Ivana, will release on May 9th. Caarthick Raju directed the film, and GA2 Pictures handled production.

This incident highlights how even a single word can ignite a major storm in Tollywood—and why filmmakers must tread carefully when it comes to industry sensitivities.
