Karthi Injured on Sardar 2 Set, Expected to Resume Shooting Soon

Tamil actor Karthi suffered a leg injury while filming an intense action sequence for his upcoming movie Sardar 2 in Mysuru. The incident took place during a crucial shoot, where Karthi was performing high-risk stunts. He was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. Doctors diagnosed a ligament strain and advised him to rest for a week.

Karthi’s Recovery and Shooting Plans

According to the latest update, Karthi is recovering well and is expected to rejoin the Sardar 2 team by Monday. Producer Lakshman of Prince Pictures confirmed that despite the injury, the shoot will resume as scheduled. Most of the outdoor shooting has already been completed, and the remaining scenes will be filmed in Chennai.

Before the accident, the team had finished shooting an action-packed climax sequence featuring Karthi and SJ Suryah in a grand film studio in Chennai. The intense fight scene, choreographed by Chethan Ramshi D’Souza, was shot without body doubles.

About Sardar 2

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 is the sequel to the 2022 hit spy thriller Sardar. Karthi plays dual roles, with the storyline spanning two time periods. The film stars Malavika Mohanan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Ashika Ranganath in key roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has replaced GV Prakash as the music composer, while George C. Williams and Dhilip Subbarayan handle cinematography and stunt direction, respectively.

Tragedy on Sardar 2 Set Earlier

This incident follows a tragic accident in July 2024, when stuntman Ezhumalai lost his life while filming another action sequence for Sardar 2. That accident briefly halted production, raising concerns about safety on film sets.

Karthi’s Upcoming Projects

Apart from Sardar 2, Karthi will also be seen in Vaaan, an action-comedy directed by Kumarasamy. The film, produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green, stars Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anandaraj, and Karunakaran.

With Karthi’s swift recovery, fans can expect Sardar 2 to stay on track for its anticipated release. The official release date is yet to be announced.
