On Christmas Day, the much-awaited title and teaser of Suriya 44 were unveiled. Directed by the acclaimed Karthik Subbaraj, the film is titled Retro and stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The teaser offers a sneak peek into a gripping tale of love, action, and redemption.
The teaser begins with Suriya and Pooja sitting on the ghats of Varanasi, as the evening aarti plays in the background. Suriya’s character makes a heartfelt promise to leave behind his violent past, renouncing hooliganism and his father’s criminal legacy. He declares his commitment to love and proposes marriage to Pooja’s character. She accepts, sealing the moment with a kiss on his forehead.
However, the serene setting contrasts sharply with glimpses of Suriya’s turbulent life as a gangster. Scenes show him involved in brutal fights, expressing rage, and indulging in drinking and smoking. Supporting characters, played by Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser, hint at a complex web of relationships and conflicts.
