A tragic incident at the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad claimed the life of Revathi, the wife of Mogadampalli Bhaskar, and left their son, Sritej, critically injured. The family had attended the event on Wednesday night, excited to see their favorite star, Allu Arjun.
The situation spiraled out of control when a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor. The sudden chaos caused a stampede, turning the joyful outing into a nightmare.
Heartbroken Husband Reacts for the First Time
Bhaskar, still recovering from a liver transplant in 2023—a life-saving donation from Revathi—expressed his sorrow. “She gave me life by donating her liver, and now she’s gone,” he said. Currently unemployed, Bhaskar had brought his wife and two children, Sritej and Sanvi, to the event.
Sritej, a devoted fan of Allu Arjun, was eager to see his idol. Known as “Pushpa” among friends, the boy convinced his family to attend. However, the excitement turned deadly when the crowd surged as Allu Arjun arrived.
Stampede Leaves One Dead and One Critical
As the situation escalated, Bhaskar moved aside with his younger daughter, who was scared by the noise. Meanwhile, Revathi stayed with Sritej. During the stampede, Revathi was fatally injured while trying to protect her son. Sritej collapsed from suffocation but was revived by police using CPR. He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition remains critical.

Demand for Justice
Bhaskar has blamed Sandhya Theatre management for the lack of crowd control. “The fans were manageable at first, but the chaos began when Allu Arjun arrived,” he said. The Hyderabad police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing harm.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akshansh Yadav confirmed that the theatre management failed to inform authorities about the actor’s presence, leading to mismanagement. He assured the victim’s family that strict legal action would be taken.
A Tragic Reminder of Safety Concerns
The tragedy highlights serious concerns about safety at large public events. Bhaskar is now left grieving for his wife and praying for his son’s recovery, a devastating reminder of the risks posed by poor crowd management.
