‘Swag’ box office report: On its way to becoming a flop

'Swag' box office report: On its way to becoming a flop

‘Swag’, which arrived at the cinemas last Friday (October 4th), is stumbling at the Box Office in commercial terms.

Despite the praises for Sree Vishnu’s performances in four different roles, the comedy drama is almost tanking. It earned a distributor share of not more than Rs 2.60 Cr in its first weekend. The film failed to make a mark at the North American box office.

‘Swag’ needs to earn at least Rs 5 Cr for it to become a breakeven movie. At this point, this looks nearly impossible, especially because Dasara is going to witness new releases that will hog all the limelight.

For People Media Factory, Swag’s failure comes as another setback after the disastrous ‘Mr. Bachchan’ in August. The banner must now pin its hopes on Gopichand’s ‘Viswam’, which will grace the big screens on October 11th.

Will ‘Swag’ find redemption on OTT?

Given its decent content and some solid stretches in the second half, ‘Swag’ deserves to find takers upon its OTT release. Director Hasith Goli’s work and Sree Vishnu’s versatility deserve audience appreciation.
