Media narratives embarrass Ravi Teja

Ravi Teja must wake up. The disastrous performance of ‘Mr. Bachchan’ at the box office has fueled a narrative against him like never before.

The Mass Maharaja has acted in just too many flops in recent years. His fans cite the success of ‘Raja The Great’, ‘Krack’, ‘Dhamaka’ and ‘Waltair Veerayya’, but the fact is that his strike rate is terrible. Ravi Teja has dished out double the number of flops in the same time frame. ‘Waltair Veerayyya’ was a Chiranjeevi movie, first and foremost. So, his strike rate is worse than what his fans would have us believe.

The media narrative is that even ‘Dhamaka’ shouldn’t be accounted as a Ravi Teja success. It worked because of its songs and the glamour of Sreeleela, some analysts say.

There is a view that Ravi Teja persuades his directors to cast actresses who have the potential to become glam queens so that pre-release hype around his movies gets built. Bhagyashri Borse is an example.

Ravi Teja continues to charge hefty fees. The media narrative is that his remuneration is so high that it makes him look greedy.
