In recent years, Telugu cinema has seen a noticeable pattern whenever a major Mega Compound film approaches release, industry-wide controversies suddenly come into focus. From ticket pricing and theatre allocation to producer politics and revenue-sharing debates, these issues often dominate headlines alongside the films themselves.
The trend became more visible during Game Changer, where discussions around Sankranti release pressure, screen dominance, and the struggles of smaller films gained momentum. Later, Hari Hara Veera Mallu created even bigger controversy after Pawan Kalyan openly alleged that certain forces within the industry were trying to obstruct the film’s release. His comments triggered massive debates about internal politics, theatre control, and industry camps.
The same atmosphere continued with OG, where discussions about benefit shows, ticket hikes, and theatre prioritisation started long before release. Now, Peddi has once again brought industry tensions into the spotlight.
This time, Telangana single-screen exhibitors are demanding a percentage-based revenue-sharing model instead of the traditional rental system. Theatre owners argue that the current setup has become financially unsustainable, especially when compared to multiplex chains already operating on revenue sharing. At the same time, exhibitors are reportedly opposing additional ticket price hikes, citing growing audience burden.
Because Peddi is one of the biggest upcoming Telugu releases, the issue has quickly gained statewide attention. Fans and trade circles now feel that major industry debates somehow intensify whenever a Mega hero film nears release.
However, some believe this is not targeted specifically at Mega heroes. According to this view, Mega films operate on such a massive scale that existing tensions within the industry naturally become more visible during their release windows.
Whatever the reason may be, one thing is clear Mega hero releases in Tollywood are no longer treated as just film events. They have become moments where business struggles, theatre politics, financial pressure, and internal industry divisions all come to the surface together.
