Sunrisers Hyderabad once again proved why they are considered the most dangerous batting unit of IPL 2026, overpowering Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in a run-fest at Hyderabad. Despite the heavy defeat, RCB had enough reasons to celebrate as they secured a top-two finish and ended the league stage at the top of the points table.
SRH came out with attacking intent right from the first over. Abhishek Sharma delivered another explosive start, smashing 56 runs off just 22 deliveries during a destructive powerplay. The left-hander took on former SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar aggressively and gave Hyderabad the perfect launchpad.
After the fiery beginning, Ishan Kishan anchored the innings brilliantly with a superb 79 off 44 balls. Mixing innovation with calculated aggression, Kishan consistently found boundaries and kept the scoring rate soaring.
The carnage intensified further when Heinrich Klaasen walked in. The South African wicketkeeper-batter unleashed a brutal assault, hammering 51 off just 24 balls. Klaasen especially targeted Josh Hazlewood, taking 27 runs from one over to completely shift the momentum in SRH’s favour.
Nitish Kumar Reddy provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 29 off only 12 balls as SRH piled up a massive 255/4, powered by 20 boundaries and 16 towering sixes.
Chasing an enormous target, RCB never looked in serious contention for victory. However, their focus soon shifted towards ensuring the qualification scenario worked in their favour. Captain Rajat Patidar played a composed knock of 56 from 39 deliveries, while Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 41. Their partnership helped RCB achieve the required milestone for a top-two finish, even though the match ended in a comprehensive defeat.
