Hyderabad Court Summons Konda Surekha in Nagarjuna’s Defamation Case

summons konda surekha, Nagarjuna case, Hyderabad

A Hyderabad court has summoned Telangana Minister Konda Surekha to appear on December 12. The summons is part of a criminal defamation case filed by actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, who accused the minister of making false and damaging statements about his family. The court has issued this directive after recording the statements of Nagarjuna and witnesses during a hearing last Thursday, November 21.

The case stems from controversial remarks Konda Surekha made in October, linking former Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) to the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. These allegations created a massive uproar across political circles and the Telugu film industry.

Why Was Konda Surekha Summoned?

The Special Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM) for Excise Cases issued the summons under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Nagarjuna filed a criminal petition in response to Konda Surekha’s remarks, which alleged KTR’s involvement in personal and sensitive matters of the Akkineni family.

What Did Konda Surekha Say?

Konda Surekha made the following statement during a public event:

“It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of actresses. He found their weaknesses to blackmail them and made them drug addicts. Everyone, including Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, and his family, knows this.”

These remarks quickly went viral, sparking severe backlash. Surekha later retracted her statement, but the damage was already done.

Reactions from Nagarjuna and the Film Industry

Nagarjuna, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), strongly criticized Konda Surekha for dragging his family into political disputes.

He wrote:

“I strongly condemn Minister Konda Surekha’s comments. Don’t drag movie stars into political fights. Respect privacy. Your accusations against my family are false and irrelevant. Withdraw your remarks immediately.”

The entire Telugu film industry, including prominent figures like Jr NTR and SS Rajamouli, also condemned Surekha’s allegations. Samantha Ruth Prabhu herself reportedly expressed displeasure over being mentioned.

What’s Next for Nagarjuna and the Akkineni Family?

The court’s summons comes just days before Naga Chaitanya’s wedding to actress Sobhita Dhulipala, scheduled for December 4. Meanwhile, Nagarjuna is busy with his upcoming films, Kubera and Coolie.
