Hyderabad’s Nampally Court granted bail to Pushpa 2 actor Allu Arjun on Friday in connection with the tragic Sandhya Theatre stampede case. The incident occurred on December 4 during a promotional event, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to her eight-year-old son.

Bail Conditions

The court approved bail with a surety bond of ₹50,000 and two additional guarantors. The court instructed Allu Arjun to:

Report to the Chikkadpally police station every Sunday.

Avoid influencing witnesses in any way.

Refrain from making public statements that could affect the investigation.

The court will review the quash petition filed by Allu Arjun’s legal team in the High Court on January 21.

Arguments in Court

Allu Arjun’s lawyer argued that the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act 105 does not apply to the actor. He claimed that the actor had no direct or indirect role in the stampede, as the incident occurred 30 meters away from where Allu Arjun greeted fans.

The public prosecutor, however, argued that the chaos resulted from Allu Arjun’s arrival. The prosecutor expressed concerns about granting bail, citing the actor’s influence and potential impact on the investigation.

Incident Overview

The tragedy took place during a promotional screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. Allu Arjun waved to fans from his car’s sunroof, drawing a massive crowd. The gathering turned chaotic, leading to a stampede. A 35-year-old woman named Revathi lost her life, while her child sustained injuries.

A case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under multiple sections of the BNS Act. The complaint, filed by the deceased woman’s family, also alleged police negligence, including a lathi charge to control the crowd.

Next Steps

While Allu Arjun’s bail provides temporary relief, the legal proceedings will continue. The High Court will determine the validity of the charges in its upcoming review.
