In a stark reflection of the ongoing LPG gas shortage in parts of Hyderabad, residents on Wednesday lashed out at a delivery agency after customers’ cylinders failed to arrive despite bookings made several days earlier. The frustration boiled over when a group of people, unable to receive their delayed gas supply, attempted to forcibly take cylinders from a delivery auto, triggering a tense confrontation that was only resolved with the help of locals and agency staff.
Customers’ anger over delayed cylinders
According to eyewitnesses, residents in the area had booked their domestic gas cylinders well in advance, but the cylinders had not been delivered on time, leading to mounting inconvenience at home. With no clear explanation or updates from the gas agency, the already aggrieved customers began questioning the delay and demanding immediate delivery. When they saw an agency auto arrive with cylinders meant for other customers, some of them decided to take matters into their own hands.
Attempt to snatch cylinders from auto
In the heat of the moment, a section of the crowd tried to lift cylinders from the auto without the agency’s permission, attempting to carry them away. Their actions were driven more by desperation than malice, as families were left without cooking fuel for multiple days. However, such an attempt posed a serious safety and legal risk, given that gas cylinders are hazardous and their unauthorized handling could lead to accidents or theft.
