Hyderabad, March 25, 2026 Petrol and diesel sales across Telangana skyrocketed by 2.5 to 3 times today, triggered by widespread rumours of fuel shortages that sparked panic buying at stations statewide.

The Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association (TPDA) swiftly dismissed the fears, assuring the public there is no fuel shortage whatsoever. “Adequate stocks are available with major suppliers HPCL, IOCL, and BPCL, and supply chains are functioning normally,” a TPDA spokesperson stated in a press release.

The association urged citizens to avoid panic buying, which has unnecessarily strained resources. “Please buy fuel only as per your regular requirements,” they appealed, warning against storing petrol or diesel in cans as it violates safety norms and poses fire hazards.

Reports from Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar highlight queues forming early morning, with sales volumes overwhelming pumps despite ample reserves. TPDA attributed the spike to social media misinformation, calling for responsible behaviour to prevent artificial scarcity.

Authorities echoed the message, with district collectors monitoring stations to ensure smooth distribution. Fuel prices remain stable amid the frenzy, but experts caution that unchecked hoarding could lead to real disruptions.

Telangana residents are advised to verify facts from official sources and refuel normally to keep the momentum going. for availability. The state government has assured swift intervention, with emergency supplies en route from neighboring depots.
