The sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, starring Prabhas in the lead, has taken Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by storm, grossing Rs 182 crore in its first week. The film’s share, which represents the distributor’s earnings, stands at Rs 116 crore (excluding GST) for the region, a report by a trade analyst says.
The movie’s performance in the Nizam region has been particularly impressive. The Prabhas-starrer raked in Rs 94 crore in gross collections and a distributor share of Rs 56 crore in the Nizam circuit alone. This translates to an 86% recovery for distributors in just the first week.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. The film’s director is going to give his first post-release interview this Friday on the sets of the film in Shankarpally, RR District.
