Actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who recently got engaged to Naga Chaitanya, headlines a family drama titled ‘Love, Sitara’. ZEE5 started streaming it from September 27. Helmed by Vandana Kataria, the web original is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies.
In its review of the web release, NDTV said that the lead characters of ‘Love, Sitara’ present “dynamic portraits of two dissimilar people seeking, losing and straining to regain love without abandoning their individuality convincingly”. The film tells the story of an “impending wedding of a Mumbai-based Malayali interior designer played by Sobhita Dhulipala and Punjabi chef Arjun Anand (Rajeev Siddhartha) in the small-town Kerala home of the former’s grandmother (B Jayashree).”
Indian Express almost called the film middling. “Net net, ‘Love, Sitara’ comes off as a film which could have been more, with the nice touches having to be found between uneven patches,” the reviewer wrote. The Hindu, too, wrote on similar lines. “The setting of the Kerala countryside isn’t put to effective use; some of the character sketches veer on caricature, like the gabby housemaid with the alcoholic husband,” the daily opined.
The film also features Sonali Kulkarni, Virginia Rodrigues, Sanjay Bhutiani, Tamara D’Souza, and Rijul Ray
