Ram Gopal Varma’s Saree Inspired by Real-Life Events, Set for April 4 Release

Director Ram Gopal Varma is preparing for the release of Saree, a psychological thriller directed by Giri Krishna Kamal. He wrote and presented the film, drawing inspiration from multiple real-life incidents to highlight the dark side of social media.

Saree Draws Inspiration from Real-Life Events

At the film’s pre-release event, Ram Gopal Varma emphasized that Saree does not focus on a single incident but takes influence from multiple real-life cases. While working on the film, he discovered a reel of actress Aradhya. Despite his vast experience in the industry, her screen presence impressed him. He also praised actor Satya Yadu, a theatre artist, for delivering an outstanding audition.

“Since I have worked with director Kamal for a long time, we both agreed that Aradhya and Satya were the perfect choices for the lead roles. Now, after watching the film, I can confidently say that both the director and the actors have done an exceptional job in bringing the script to life,” Varma stated.

A Story That Reflects the Dangers of Social Media

Actress Aradhya shared insights about her character, explaining that she plays a ‘girl-next-door’ role. She emphasized that Saree explores the dangers of social media, particularly its negative impact on women. “Many women will personally relate to this story. I truly appreciate Ram Gopal Varma for giving me this opportunity,” she said.

Actor Satya Yadu, who comes from Uttar Pradesh, expressed his excitement about his big-screen debut. “Though I have acted in TV serials before, Saree marks my first film. This psychological thriller explores social media stalking. Not just women, even men can relate to this film,” he noted.

Cast and Crew Details

Alongside Satya Yadu and Aradhya, Saree features Sahil Sambhyal, Appaji Ambarish, and Kalpalatha in pivotal roles. Sashi Preetham, Keerthana Sesh, DSR Balaji, Siddarth Siddu, and Rakesh Panikela composed the film’s music, while Anand handled the background score. Sabari worked as the director of photography, and Giri Krishna Kamal, along with Perampally Rajesh, edited the film.

Ram Gopal Varma has written and is presenting the film. Ravi Shankar Varma produced Saree under RGV Aarvi Productions LLP. The film will hit theaters on April 4, 2024, in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.
