In a significant achievement, Pushpa 2: The Rule has broken a 23-year-old box office record at the iconic Sandhya 70mm Theatre in Hyderabad. The film, which has been running for just four weeks, has earned over ₹1.59 crore, surpassing the previous record set by Kushi in 2001, which collected ₹1.53 crore. Despite this new record, Kushi still holds a special place in cinema history for several reasons.

Ticket Price Comparison

In the early 2000s, ticket prices in theatres were much lower. At Sandhya 70mm, tickets ranged from ₹5 to ₹50, depending on the seating section. Special screenings, such as premieres, did not require additional charges or permissions.

At that time, the box office collections weren’t as accurately tracked, and black market sales were common, though they didn’t count toward official earnings.

In contrast, Pushpa 2 has seen much higher ticket prices. Benefit shows cost around ₹900, while regular tickets for first-class seats were priced at ₹250. The stark difference in ticket prices makes the record-breaking achievement of Pushpa 2 even more remarkable.

A Historic Feat for the Mega Fans

Sandhya 70mm Theatre is known as a stronghold for Mega fans. With Pushpa 2 breaking the record at such a respected venue, the film has become a source of pride for its fans.

Pushpa 2’s Box Office Success

Despite a slight drop in earnings on its fourth Monday (December 30), Pushpa 2 continues to dominate the box office. As of day 26, the film had earned ₹6.65 crore, the lowest single-day earnings so far. However, the total earnings across all languages in India have reached an impressive ₹1163.65 crore.

The Hindi version has grossed ₹758.65 crore, surpassing the Telugu version’s ₹326.31 crore. Other versions, including Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, have also contributed with ₹56.95 crore, ₹14.12 crore, and ₹7.62 crore, respectively.

Global Achievement

On the global front, Pushpa 2 has crossed another milestone. The film has grossed over ₹1760 crore worldwide, setting it on track to surpass the lifetime collections of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. This achievement marks a new chapter in Indian cinema’s box office history.
