The highly awaited Telugu mythological drama Kannappa is all set to hit theatres on June 27, 2025, and the excitement continues to build, especially with the confirmation that Prabhas will deliver a powerful 30-minute extended cameo. Lead actor and producer Vishnu Manchu recently revealed several key details about the film’s final version, runtime, and the roles of other big stars.
Prabhas to Appear as Rudra in the Final 50 Minutes
In a recent interview, Vishnu Manchu confirmed that Prabhas plays the role of a hermit named Rudra, a divine character who plays a major role in Kannappa’s spiritual transformation. Though the role technically counts as a cameo, Vishnu clarified that Prabhas will remain on screen for around 30 minutes, particularly during the crucial final 50 minutes of the movie. He also shares impactful scenes with Vishnu himself and veteran actor Mohan Babu, promising a grand cinematic moment.
Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal Deliver Special Appearances
Apart from Prabhas, Kannappa includes several other high-profile cameo appearances. Mohanlal appears for 15 minutes in a significant emotional role that strengthens the storyline. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar portrays Lord Shiva for 10 minutes, adding even more star value to this mythological epic. Kajal Aggarwal will also make a special appearance, though the filmmakers have not yet revealed details about her role.
Massive Runtime and Epic War Sequence
The team has locked the final runtime of Kannappa at 3 hours and 10 minutes, and they carefully edited the film to maintain story flow and audience engagement. Even after several trims during post-production, the makers preserved Prabhas’s role to highlight its importance. One of the film’s visual highlights includes a 12-minute war sequence, which showcases high production values and intense drama.
Devotional Track ‘Sri-Kala-Hasti’ to Release on May 28
Adding to the film’s spiritual tone, the next song from Kannappa, titled Sri-Kala-Hasti, will release on May 28. Vishnu Manchu’s daughters, Ariaana and Viviana, have sung this devotional track, and Stephen Devassy composed the music. This emotional number aims to strike a chord with audiences.
An Ambitious Pan-India Mythological Drama
Director Mukesh Kumar Singh leads the project, while 24 Frames Factory and Ava Entertainment back the production. Vishnu Manchu plays the lead role, supported by a massive ensemble cast that includes Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, and Preity Mukhundhan, all portraying key roles in this larger-than-life retelling of the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva.
With its blend of mythology, action, emotion, and superstar cameos, Kannappa stands out as one of the biggest pan-Indian releases of 2025. The film narrates the journey of Kannappa, once an atheist, who embarks on a spiritual path and ultimately becomes one of Lord Shiva’s greatest devotees.
