Irumudi Faces Pressure to Remove Controversial Scenes Over Government School Portrayal

By TeluguFunda / August 25, 2026

Ravi Teja’s latest devotional drama Irumudi is enjoying a strong run at the box office, but the film has now landed in controversy. The Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation (APTF) has raised objections to certain scenes that allegedly portray the government education system and teachers in a negative manner.

Teachers’ Federation Demands Immediate Action

The APTF has demanded the immediate removal of the scenes it considers objectionable. The association alleged that the film misrepresents government schools, students and teachers, potentially affecting the public perception of the state’s education system.

APTF State President Chennupati Manjula and General Secretary Basavalingarao issued a joint statement, stressing that cinema has a significant influence on society and can shape opinions on important social issues. They urged filmmakers to exercise greater caution while depicting sensitive subjects.

Irumudi Scenes Under Fire

According to the teachers’ association, Shiva Nirvana’s directorial venture features a government school teacher in an unfavorable manner. The federation also objected to the film specifically mentioning Zilla Parishad High School in Sileru, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, while using the same type of uniform worn by government school students across Andhra Pradesh.

The APTF described these portions as demeaning and unnecessary and called for the removal of content that it believes defames government teachers and the public school system.

Will Irumudi Makers Respond?

The makers of Irumudi have not yet issued an official response to the allegations. However, the scenes in question are reportedly important to the film’s storyline, making any decision to remove them a potentially significant one.

Despite the controversy, Irumudi is continuing its impressive theatrical run across the Telugu states and overseas. It remains to be seen whether the filmmakers will respond to the teachers’ association’s demands or retain the scenes as part of the narrative.
