Chungreng Koren’s Emotional ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ Celebration After UFC Win Goes Viral

By TeluguFunda / May 29, 2026

Indian MMA fighter Chungreng Koren delivered one of the most emotional moments in Indian combat sports after securing a huge victory at the Road to UFC event in Macau, China. The Manipuri fighter defeated previously unbeaten Japanese bantamweight Ryuho Miyaguchi in an intense contest and celebrated the victory with a powerful “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” shout inside the arena.

The emotional celebration instantly went viral across social media, with fans praising Koren not only for his performance inside the cage but also for proudly representing India on the international stage.

Moments after the referee stopped the fight, an emotional Koren said, “Hum log abki baar jeet gaya, humara Hindustan ke liye, humara desh ke liye,” expressing his pride in winning for the country.

Koren secured the victory through a rear-naked choke submission and handed Miyaguchi the first defeat of his professional MMA career. Throughout the fight, the Indian bantamweight looked calm, aggressive, and technically sharp against one of the division’s most promising fighters.

From Heartbreak and Depression to a UFC Dream Revival

Koren’s victory becomes even more inspiring considering the struggles he faced over the past year. In 2025, he came extremely close to earning a UFC opportunity through the Road to UFC tournament, the UFC’s official pathway for Asian fighters. However, contractual complications prevented him from competing, shattering a dream he had worked toward for years.

Things became even more difficult after he lost his Matrix Fight Night bantamweight title to Nepal’s Rabindra Dhant in August 2025. The defeat pushed Koren into depression, something he later openly admitted during interviews.

Despite the setbacks, the 28-year-old never gave up on his dream. He continued rebuilding himself mentally and physically while waiting for another opportunity.

Initially selected only as a backup fighter for Road to UFC Season 5, Koren finally received his chance after South Korea’s Shin You-min withdrew because of injury.

Speaking about the emotional moment, Koren said, “I became emotional again because moments like this do not come easily. For me, this feels more like gratitude and another chance to fight for my dream.”

A Journey Filled With Personal Struggles

Born in Kamu Koireng village in Manipur, Koren’s life has never been easy. His father passed away before he was born, and later the death of his brother in 2019 forced him to take greater responsibility for his family.

Financial struggles and personal hardships almost pushed him away from sports completely. However, Koren revealed that his mother and wife played a crucial role in helping him continue his MMA journey.

“Now I fight not only for myself but also for my mother, wife, child, my people and my country,” he said.

The fighter also admitted there was a period when his life was heading in the wrong direction before his family motivated him to return to training and continue believing in himself.

Training in Dagestan Changed Everything

After losing to Rabindra Dhant, Koren decided to completely transform himself as a fighter. That decision took him to Dagestan, Russia, one of the toughest MMA training hubs in the world and home to several UFC champions.

Training alongside elite wrestlers and fighters helped Koren sharpen his wrestling, striking, discipline, and overall fight IQ.

“Earlier, my style was more based on toughness and pressure, but after training there I understood more about technique, timing and finishing,” Koren explained.

According to him, the experience not only improved his skills inside the cage but also helped him become mentally stronger after the toughest phase of his career.

A Proud Moment for Indian MMA

Koren’s success represents another important step for Indian MMA on the global stage. The Road to UFC event in Macau featured several South Asian fighters, including India’s Puja Tomar and Nepal’s Rabindra Dhant, reflecting the rapid growth of MMA in the region.

In recent years, Indian fighters have started making a mark internationally. In 2023, Anshul Jubli became the first Indian fighter to secure a UFC contract through the Road to UFC tournament. Koren now hopes to follow the same path.

“I always want to show that fighters from Manipur and India can reach the highest level if they get support and opportunities,” Koren said.

Interestingly, fate could once again set up a rematch between Koren and Rabindra Dhant. Both fighters currently stand on opposite sides of the Road to UFC bracket, meaning they could potentially meet in the final with a UFC contract on the line.

For now, however, Koren remains focused on taking things one fight at a time.

“Right now my full focus is on the opponent in front of me and performing well in Road to UFC. If both of us reach the final, then it will obviously be a very important fight because the stakes will be much bigger,” he said.

A year ago, Chungreng Koren was battling depression after a painful defeat and another missed UFC opportunity. Today, he stands just two wins away from achieving the dream he has chased his entire life. His emotional victory over Ryuho Miyaguchi has already become one of the proudest moments for Indian MMA fans and a powerful reminder that resilience and belief can overcome even the toughest setbacks.
