Senior journalist and professor Nageshwar Rao has recently become the center of political controversy in Andhra Pradesh following his comments alleging that Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan had approached Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking the arrest of former CM Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The remarks triggered strong reactions from Jana Sena supporters, who reportedly approached the police and filed a complaint against Nageshwar Rao. A case was subsequently registered, and the matter is currently under investigation.
Amid this backdrop, several media platforms and social media accounts began circulating reports claiming that Andhra Pradesh police had reached Hyderabad to arrest Nageshwar Rao. Some reports even suggested that Telangana police had denied permission for the arrest since the professor was residing within Telangana jurisdiction.
However, the Andhra Pradesh Fact Check Department has now officially dismissed these reports as completely false. In a clarification issued on Tuesday, the department stated that no Andhra Pradesh police team had gone to Hyderabad to arrest Nageshwar Rao.
“The ongoing rumor that Andhra Pradesh police have arrived in Telangana to arrest Professor Nageshwar is false. Nothing of the sort has happened. Some individuals are deliberately spreading this rumor. We strongly condemn this,” the Fact Check Department clarified.
With this official statement, the Andhra Pradesh government has made it clear that the circulating reports about the arrest attempt are baseless and misleading.
