By TeluguFunda / May 22, 2026

Storyline

Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, finally fulfills his long-cherished dream of producing a film titled Drishyam, featuring superstar Arun Kumar, portrayed by Biju Menon. The movie turns into a massive blockbuster, bringing renewed media attention to Georgekutty and his family.

At the same time, two investigative reporters begin tracking Georgekutty’s every move, hoping to uncover clues related to Varun’s mysterious disappearance and mortal remains. Amid this growing tension, Georgekutty is also preparing for his daughter Anju George’s marriage. As old secrets threaten to resurface once again, Georgekutty must use all his intelligence and tricks to protect his family from danger.

Positives

Mohanlal once again proves why he is regarded as one of India’s finest actors. His calm yet intense performance as Georgekutty remains the film’s biggest strength.
The second half generates decent tension as the investigation slowly closes in on Georgekutty.
Certain suspense portions and investigative sequences manage to keep the audience engaged.
Fun moments involving Esther Anil work reasonably well.
Background score by Anil Johnson complements the thriller atmosphere effectively.

Negatives

The film heavily relies on the same screenplay structure and conflict pattern seen in the previous installments.
The first half feels slow and lacks gripping moments.
The climax fails to deliver the shocking impact and emotional payoff expected from the franchise.
The twists are predictable and do not create the surprise factor associated with the earlier films.
Emotional depth is noticeably missing, making the narrative less impactful.
Some portions of the finale feel confusing and underwhelming.

Technicalities

Cinematography by Satheesh Kurup is visually neat and supports the film’s mood well.
Production values are solid throughout the movie.
Telugu dubbing is satisfactory.
Editing could have been tighter, especially during the sluggish first half.
Director Jeethu Joseph succeeds only in parts, as the film lacks the freshness and emotional power that made the previous entries memorable.

Rating

2.75/5

Final Verdict

On the whole, Drishyam 3 is a watchable thriller that works in bits and pieces but never reaches the brilliance of the first two films in the franchise. While the second half offers some engaging moments, the repetitive screenplay style, weak emotional connect, and underwhelming climax reduce the overall impact. Fans of the franchise may find it decent for a one-time watch, but it doesn’t leave the lasting impression expected from a Drishyam film.
