Thalapathy Vijay’s Political Entry Sends Tamil Nadu CMO Accounts Soaring

Vijay, popularly known as “Thalapathy,” is already creating waves in Tamil Nadu politics. From dominating the box office for years to now taking charge as Chief Minister, Vijay’s influence has rapidly extended into the digital space as well.

Soon after Vijay assumed office, the official social media accounts of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office witnessed an unprecedented surge in followers. The Instagram handle ‘cmotamilnadu,’ which previously had around 4 lakh followers, has now crossed 16 lakh followers within a short span. Similarly, the official X account, @CMOTamilNadu, jumped from nearly 4 lakh followers to an impressive 22 lakh.

The buzz intensified further after officials updated the profile picture with an image of Vijay seated in the Chief Minister’s chair. Within just 24 hours, the image reportedly garnered nearly 1.4 million views, highlighting the actor-turned-politician’s massive online appeal.

Traditionally, government social media pages are used to share updates on official meetings, welfare schemes, inaugurations, and administrative activities. Such accounts rarely attract rapid follower growth or significant engagement from the public. However, Vijay’s arrival appears to have completely changed that trend.

A large number of young voters and longtime fans are now closely following the CMO’s official pages to stay updated on Vijay’s governance, public appearances, and policy decisions. Instead of depending solely on media coverage or fan pages, supporters are directly engaging with official government channels.

After years of ruling the entertainment industry, Vijay has now brought the same level of excitement and digital attention to Tamil Nadu politics. With the overwhelming response to his first day in office, many believe the “Thalapathy effect” is only just beginning.
