Storyline
Dharahas (Tharun Bhascker) is in love with a girl (Manasa Chowdary). However, her father (Anish Kuruvilla) insists she marry only a US-settled groom. Determined to win her, Dharahas heads to the United States but gets deported immediately. Frustrated and humiliated, he bizarrely decides to take revenge on former US President Donald Trump. What follows is a mix of absurd comedy and spoof-driven sequences.
Positives
Fresh and interesting core concept
A few spoof comedy episodes work well
Tharun Bhascker delivers a decent performance
Black magic comedy portions featuring Sree Vishnu are mildly entertaining
Negatives
Weak and inconsistent writing
Overdependence on spoof and slapstick humor
Lack of originality in many scenes
Uneven narration with noticeable drag
Characters, especially the antagonist (JD Chakravarthy), lack depth
Technicalities
Directed by Kashyap Sreenivas, the film starts with a promising premise but struggles in execution. Cinematography by Vidya Sagar Chinta feels outdated at times, and the production design doesn’t elevate the film’s tone. Music by Sweekar Agasthi fails to leave an impact, and the background score is equally underwhelming. Editing by Viplav Nyshadham could have been tighter, as the film drags in several portions.
Rating : 2.75/5
Final Verdict
Gaayapadda Simham had the potential to be a fun, quirky comedy like Jathi Ratnalu, but ends up as a partially engaging film due to weak writing and inconsistent execution. A few laughs here and there, but not enough to fully satisfy.
