‘Peddi Is My Favourite Subject,’ Says Ram Charan at AR Rahman’s Live Concert

Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Telugu releases in recent times. With music by the legendary AR Rahman, expectations for the film are soaring sky-high.

On Saturday, Rahman performed live in Hyderabad, and in a delightful surprise for fans, Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Buchi Babu Sana joined him on stage. Their unexpected appearance sent the crowd into a frenzy, turning the event into one of the most memorable nights for Telugu cinema fans.

The first single from the film, “Chikiri Chikiri,” released on November 7, has created a massive sensation online. Within just 24 hours, the song amassed a record-breaking 46 million views across all language versions on YouTube an all-time high for any Indian song. The Telugu version alone garnered 32 million views, while the Hindi dubbed version crossed 10 million, setting a new benchmark as the most-viewed Hindi dubbed Telugu song in a single day. Sung by Mohit Chauhan, the track’s infectious tune and viral hook step have taken social media by storm.

Speaking at the concert, Ram Charan expressed his excitement and gratitude. “It was my childhood dream to work with Rahman sir, and it’s finally coming true with my favourite subject, Peddi,” he said, adding that the project holds a special place in his heart.

Peddi is described as a semi-period sports drama set in the Uttarandhra region, blending intense emotion with mass appeal. The story follows the journey of its titular character, Peddi, exploring his struggles and triumphs in a deeply rooted, cinematic narrative.

The film stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyendu Sharma in pivotal roles. It is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, in association with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana with music by AR Rahman, Peddi is set for a grand theatrical release on March 27, 2026.
