The Telangana government has intensified its crackdown on social media influencers who promote online betting apps. Hyderabad police have registered cases against 11 YouTubers for misleading the public by endorsing gambling platforms. The authorities found that these influencers were luring users with false promises of easy money, leading to severe financial losses and even suicides.

IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar, known for his strict stance on crime, has been actively pursuing such cases. He emphasized that the crackdown is not limited to a few individuals but is part of a larger effort to dismantle an ecosystem that promotes gambling. Sajjanar warned that promoting these apps is not just unethical but a serious crime that endangers the future of many young people.

Who Are the YouTubers Facing Charges?

The police have filed cases against several well-known YouTubers, including Bayya Sunny Yadav, Harsha Sai, Vishnu Priya, Supreeta, Imran Khan, Ritu Choudhary, Tasty Teja, Ajay, Kiran Goud, and Sudheer Raju. These influencers allegedly received huge payments from betting app companies to promote their platforms through YouTube and other social media channels.

Authorities revealed that these influencers exaggerated earning potential through betting apps, making it seem like a quick and easy way to make money. However, many users who followed their advice ended up losing large sums of money, leading to mental distress and financial ruin. In some tragic cases, victims even took their own lives after being trapped in debt.

Hyderabad police have warned that this is just the beginning of a larger investigation. More names may come to light as authorities continue tracking online promotions of gambling platforms. Cases have already been filed at the Panjagutta police station, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Sajjanar has urged the public to report any influencers promoting betting apps. He stated that these platforms are a major threat to society, exploiting people’s financial struggles and leading them into a cycle of debt.

The police have also issued a public advisory, asking people to stay away from online betting apps and not fall for misleading promotions. They emphasized that these platforms are designed to benefit the app owners, not the users.

This crackdown serves as a strong warning to social media influencers who misuse their platforms for unethical promotions.
