Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Indra’ created a sensation way back in 2002. Not many know that its director B Gopal himself was not enamoured of its story, written by Chinni Krishna. And producer Aswini Dutt, too, was not mesmerized by the story.
Chinni Krishna, the story-writer, has revealed in a podcast that it was Chiranjeevi who vehemently and vociferously endorsed the story. Only then did Gopal and Dutt start reposing faith in the story.
“I gave a 2.5 hour narration to Chiranjeevi. Gopal and Dutt were waiting outside. After listening to the first half, Chiranjeevi called them in and told them the movie will fetch profits for everyone. He declared that even cycle-stand wallahs will make thousands of rupees because of this movie,” Chinni Krishna said.
The film had music by Mani Sharma. ‘Indra’ is up for a grand re-release in theatres on August 22nd, marking Chiru’s birthday.
