Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today (July 2nd) minced no words when he said that Tollywood actors have a duty to discharge towards society. Here is what he said today: Films made at budgets running into hundreds of crores require increased ticket rates. The government is ready to afford them the luxury but a pre-condition will be put in place from now on.
The star cast of those movies must make videos against social problems such as drug menace and the growing incidence of cyber crimes in order to avail the benefit of hiked ticket rates.
“I am hereby directing officials to ensure that film stars do video clips of about 2 minutes length to disseminate information against the dangers associated with drug abuse. It is fine on the part of film producers and actors to seek Government Orders hiking the ticket prices, but it is also incumbent upon them to do something in return for society,” the CM said.
The remarks made by the CM will be taken note of by the Telugu film industry. Big stars like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Jr NTR are doing enormous films.
