‘Viraaji’ tells the story of a handful of purported sinners who would have been languishing in jail had they not escaped the long arm of the law. They are deceived into coming to a forsaken, ghostly, desolate mental asylum where they would be tortured to death. None of the sinners know who is attempting to kill them.

‘Viraaji’ was consciously made as a screenplay-based thriller. A frustrating twist around the pre-climax segment is the least of its problems. The reactions of the characters, Varun Sandesh’s unnaturally offbeat character, and the low-end backdrop of the film are distracting. The climax is needlessly melodramatic and basic instead of being heart-tugging.
