‘Thug Life’ has been directed by classic filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The film’s producers (read Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, R Mahendran, and Siva Ananth) are laughing their way to the bank.
Rajkamal Films International has confirmed that Home Screen Entertainment and AP International have bagged the film’s overseas release rights. In the wake of the news, the media has been quoting trade circles as saying that the overseas deal is astronomical in its value. About Rs 63 crore is said to be the value of the spectacular deal.
The action drama is clearly benefiting from the euphoria generated by the previous films of the Kamal-Mani Ratnam duo. ‘Vikram’ was a runaway blockbuster. And so also the first installment of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.
Will the huge deals work out for the distributors involved? Will the film, featuring an ensemble cast, become one of the biggest Kollywood blockbusters?
