Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s latest blockbuster, Thudarum, has shattered all records and set a new benchmark by becoming the first Malayalam film to gross Rs 100 crore from Kerala alone.
Thudarum Opens 100 Cr Club in Kerala, a Historic First
No film had ever reached the Rs 100 crore mark at the Kerala box office until Thudarum made it happen. Over the years, even massive pan-India hits like Baahubali 2 and Empuraan tried but failed to achieve this feat in Kerala. However, director Tharun Moorthy, actor Mohanlal, and producer Rejaputhra Visual Media achieved the unthinkable with Thudarum.
Audiences across the state gave Thudarum a thunderous response and pushed it past the Rs 100 crore mark on Day 19. The film’s success feels even more remarkable because it doesn’t rely on being a sequel or a big-budget spectacle. Instead, the team attracted viewers with strong storytelling, Mohanlal’s commanding performance, and positive word of mouth.
Thudarum Breaks Records Set by Previous Box Office Giants
In 2023, Tovino Thomas’s 2018 set a Kerala record by grossing Rs 88.5 crore. But Thudarum crushed that record in just 16 days by collecting Rs 90.25 crore. Audiences flocked to theatres and turned Thudarum into a new industry hit.
Check out how Thudarum compares to other films that opened the 100 Cr club in South India:
Tamil Nadu – Robo (2010)
Andhra Pradesh – Baahubali (2015)
Telangana – Baahubali 2 (2017)
Karnataka – Baahubali 2 (2017)
Kerala – Thudarum (2025)
Kerala finally joins the 100 Cr club, ending years of anticipation.
Thudarum’s Day-Wise Kerala Box Office Collection
Here’s how the film performed at the Kerala box office over 19 days:
Week 1: Rs 47.60 crore
Week 2: Rs 35.15 crore
Days 15–19: Rs 17.25 crore
Total Kerala gross (19 days): Rs 100 crore (estimated)
Thudarum Marches Towards Rs 200 Crore Globally
Alongside its Kerala triumph, Thudarum continues its spectacular global run. By Day 17, the film crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide, making it the third Malayalam film to do so, after Manjummel Boys (Rs 241 crore) and Empuraan (Rs 267 crore).
So far, the film has earned around Rs 109 crore in India and Rs 86 crore from overseas markets. With Thudarum, Mohanlal has now delivered back-to-back 200 crore grossers, following the recent success of Empuraan.
