The much-awaited Telugu trailer of Thudarum has finally dropped, and it’s creating a huge buzz among movie lovers. The film features Malayalam megastar Mohanlal alongside the iconic Shobana, reuniting after 15 years. Director Tharun Moorthy helms this crime comedy thriller, which will hit screens on April 25 in both Malayalam and Telugu. Mohanlal cleared up all the rumors about delays by announcing the official release date on his social media.
A Nostalgic Reunion with a Fresh Twist
Thudarum brings back the beloved duo of Mohanlal and Shobana for their 56th collaboration. Fans know this legendary pair from classics like Manichitrathazhu, Thenmavin Kombath, and Minnaram. This time, they appear as husband and wife. Mohanlal plays Shanmugham, a simple taxi driver who deeply loves his black Ambassador car. Shobana plays his supportive and grounded partner. The trailer shows their sparkling chemistry through charming, funny, and emotional scenes.
Telugu Trailer Highlights: Mood Shifts from Light to Dark
The trailer begins with a cheerful tone. It shows Shanmugham happily driving his car and enjoying peaceful moments with his wife. But as the trailer continues, the tone suddenly becomes intense. Mohanlal’s character shifts drastically, ending the trailer with a bold line: “Ika Nenu Cheppedhi Meeranthaa Vinaali.” This unexpected transition hints at a hidden mystery and has raised strong curiosity among viewers.
Story, Team, and Technical Brilliance
The trailer avoids spoiling the full story but hints at something dark in Shanmugham’s past. The movie cleverly mixes family emotions, suspense, and comedy in a refreshing way. Tharun Moorthy co-wrote the film with K.R. Sunil. Editors Nishadh Yusuf and Shafeeque VB handled the cut, with Nishadh—who previously worked on Suriya’s Kanguva—tragically passing away last year.
M. Ranjith produced the film under the Rejaputra Visual Media banner, and Deepa Arts will release it in Telugu states. Jakes Bejoy composed the music, while Shaji Kumar managed cinematography. The film’s AI-generated poster, featuring a vintage version of Mohanlal and Shobana, has already gone viral online.
