Telugufunda-Yatra2-review

The Sequel to the Y S Raja Sekahara Reddy “Yatra” titled “Yatra 2” has hit the silver screens today Starring Mamooty as “Y S Raja Sekhar Reddy” and Jiiva portrayed as “ Y S Jagan” directed by Mahi V Raghav. The film timeline essentially falls between the period of 2009 to 2019 and Y S Jagan’s epic walkathon. Let’s see how this film has fared among the audience.

Plot

The story starts with the introduction of Mammootty ( YSR) along with Jiiva (Y S Jagan) for the initial few scenes and shifts to Delhi where Suzanne Bernert (Sonia Gandhi) is introduced as president to noted National party making some wild decisions. The twist in the plot comes very early when YSR faces a shocking incident and Y S Jagan comes into the limelight.

The Walkathon (Odarpu yatra) and the heat reaches Delhi. High Command orders Y S Jagan to stop the walkathon. Did Y S Jagan oblige high command orders? What decisions did Y S Jagan make for the welfare of the state?  How Y S Jagan becomes the people’s leader lies in the rest of the story.

Performances

Jiiva and Mammootty delivered stellar performances, leaving an indelible mark on the audience. Jiiva’s nuanced portrayal and Mammootty’s powerful presence contributed significantly to the movie’s success. Their chemistry on-screen was palpable, creating a compelling narrative that resonated with viewers.

As seasoned actors, Jiiva and Mammootty showcased their versatility, bringing depth and authenticity to their respective roles. Their solid performances undoubtedly added a layer of brilliance to the film, making it a must-watch for fans of impactful storytelling and exceptional acting.

Technical Aspects

Direction by Mahi V Raghav is subtle.

Santhosh Narayan’s emotive score and Madhie’s skilled cinematography work harmoniously to accentuate the film’s emotional highs and lows, creating a seamless narrative flow.

The inclusion of impactful dialogues, such as “Devudu nammakam, YSR nijam” (God is belief, YSR is truth) and “Maata thappadu madam thippadu” (He keeps his word and stands firm), holds profound significance for YSR’s supporters.

These lines evoke a deep sense of nostalgia and passion, connecting with the audience on a visceral level and adding layers of authenticity to the portrayal of YSR’s journey. Overall, the technical finesse and of impactful dialogues contribute to the film’s immersive storytelling and emotional resonance.

Telugu Funda Analysis

In his depiction of YS Jagan, Jiiva skillfully embodies the character with a remarkable combination of tenacity, political astuteness, and genuine warmth. Mammootty, portraying YSR, brings elegance to his performance, while Mahesh Manjrekar and Suzanne Bernard, portraying Chandra Babu and the Madam respectively, add complexity to the political narrative. Ketaki Narayan and Ashrita Vemuganti, as YS Bharati and YS Vijayamma, contribute significantly to the emotional depth of the storyline.

Despite potential political sensitivities, director Mahi V Raghav’s narrative skill ensures a compelling story, seamlessly incorporating real-life footage for authenticity. However, the disparity in visual quality between archival footage and cinematic sequences, along with the juxtaposition of YSR’s statues against Mammootty’s portrayed images, may slightly diminish the immersive experience.

Telugu Funda Verdict

Jiiva and Mammootty showcased commendable performances. The storytelling, though well-crafted, occasionally leans towards a political stance rather than presenting a balanced narrative. I refrain from assessing the accuracy of events but focus on the storytelling approach.

In conclusion, undeniably engaging, but a noticeable bias is discernible.
