Ritika Nayak

Director Krishna Chaitanya’s ambitious film Powerpeta, starring Sundeep Kishan, is grabbing attention with its intriguing mix of political drama, intense characters, and emotional storytelling. Backed by 70mm Entertainments, the film has already completed 60% of its shoot, and the makers are steadily building anticipation with character glimpses.

Ritika Nayak’s First Look as Padamataveedhi Janaki Unveiled

The makers have officially announced Mirai fame Ritika Nayak as the female lead in Powerpeta. On the occasion of her birthday, the team unveiled her first-look poster, introducing her character as Padamataveedhi Janaki, who will be seen opposite Sundeep Kishan.

Ritika, who has scored a hat-trick of blockbusters with her first three films, makes a striking impression in the poster. Dressed in a traditional half saree with a sleeveless blouse and dupatta, she is seen sitting on a wooden bench inside a manduva-style house. Her elegant appearance and graceful expressions offer a refreshing contrast to the intense atmosphere established by the film’s earlier glimpse.

Ritika Nayak Stuns in Traditional and Glamorous Avatars

Beyond her traditional appearance, a special glimpse showcases Ritika Nayak in multiple looks, highlighting different shades of her character. While her half-saree appearance reflects her traditional charm, her contemporary styling brings out a modern and glamorous side.

Her oversized-shirt look, in particular, adds a stylish touch to the presentation. The combination of traditional elegance and modern appeal makes the character introduction more intriguing, leaving audiences curious about Janaki’s role in the film’s political and emotional landscape.

Sundeep Kishan’s Intense Look Raises Expectations

Earlier, the makers introduced Sundeep Kishan as Senapathi Ravi through an intense glimpse that received a strong response. With the actor stepping into a powerful character, Powerpeta promises to explore a world shaped by politics, ambition, and complex relationships.

Krishna Chaitanya is reportedly mounting the film on a grand scale, with the contrasting character introductions offering a glimpse into the different dimensions of the story.

Mani Sharma and Madhie Lead the Technical Team

Powerpeta also boasts an experienced technical crew. Madhie is handling cinematography, while legendary composer Mani Sharma is composing the music. Sreekar Prasad is overseeing the editing, and Ramakrishna and Monika are taking care of production design.

With 60% of the shoot completed, Sundeep Kishan’s intense character, Ritika Nayak’s graceful introduction, and Krishna Chaitanya’s ambitious vision have added to the buzz surrounding Powerpeta. More updates from the film are expected to keep audiences interested as the project progresses.

Punchline

A fun-filled horror comedy powered by Varun Tej’s energetic performance and Satya’s impeccable comic timing, despite a few logical flaws and a weak climax.

Storyline

Kanakaraju (Varun Tej) is the leader of a traditional folk performance troupe in Penukonda, Rayalaseema. He falls in love with Chaitra (Ritika Nayak), a K-pop enthusiast working at the Kia plant. Just when their love story begins to take shape, Kanakaraju’s life takes a bizarre turn after he gets possessed by the spirit of a Korean man.

As the supernatural chaos unfolds, Kanakaraju, Chaitra, and his close friend Kisttappa set out to uncover the mystery behind the spirit and find a way to free him from its grip. The film combines romance, comedy, and horror while revealing the spirit’s emotional backstory.

Positives

The biggest strength of Korean Kanakaraju is its entertainment factor. Director Merlapaka Gandhi succeeds in delivering a clean family entertainer packed with comedy from start to finish without losing focus on the main storyline.

Varun Tej impresses in both shades of his character, bringing enough variation to make each avatar distinct. His transformation after the possession is convincing and entertaining.

Satya once again proves why he is among Tollywood’s finest comedians. His scenes with Varun Tej are hilarious and consistently produce laugh-out-loud moments throughout the film.

Ritika Nayak performs her role effectively, while supporting actors including Muralidhar Goud, Master Revanth, and the Korean cast add value to the narrative. The screenplay smartly balances comedy with the supernatural elements, ensuring the story never feels stagnant.

Negatives

The film prioritizes entertainment over logic, resulting in several scenes that require viewers to suspend disbelief.

The climax lacks the same energy maintained throughout the film and feels rushed. The visual effects during the final portions are below expectations and reduce the overall impact. A few scenes featuring violence also feel slightly excessive for a film that largely targets family audiences.

Technicalities

Thaman S delivers a decent soundtrack, while his background score effectively enhances the horror and comedy portions. Manojh Reddy’s cinematography stands out, especially during the Korean-themed sequences, which are visually appealing.

Editor Satyaa maintains a crisp pace throughout the film. Director Merlapaka Gandhi deserves appreciation for reviving the horror-comedy genre with entertaining writing, witty one-liners, and several memorable comedy blocks that keep audiences engaged.

Rating

(3/5)

Final Verdict

Korean Kanakaraju is an enjoyable horror-comedy that succeeds mainly because of its consistent humor, entertaining screenplay, and the excellent performances of Varun Tej and Satya. While the film stumbles in the climax with weak CGI and overlooks logic at times, it still delivers enough laughs and fun to make it a worthwhile theatrical watch. If you’re looking for a light-hearted entertainer with a supernatural twist, Korean Kanakaraju is a solid pick.
